In my last post I showed you the Wizard hat model themed on the Harry Potter 'Sorting Hat' the rest of the cake also had the 'Wizard' theme. I finished most of the decorations on Wednesday night and added all the pieces on thursday morning. Last night Thursday the 7th Feb I took the finished cake to drama rehearsal to give to Bernard for his Birthday........
As I arrived he was on stage with green lighting playing his part, with sound effects to match..... I entered with a huge box, he came off stage to take a look and was surprised at what he found! I had not given him any idea of what I was doing so I was pleased he loved it! I gave him a print out of the images I had used as inspiration like the wand, hat and some parchment from the movie.....
I took lots and lots of photos,ha,ha......lucky I did as I had to cut it 2 hour into rehearsal! Although I did look up how to cut the 8 inch cake to get the most pieces, thank goodness....... As you can see I tried to create harrys wand, all the models are edible although bernard chose to keep them,
Back of the cake, and Wizard Spells......
The writing you can see going around the cake are spells the wizard uses in the panto, a lot of them sound similar to those in Harry Potter..... I also made the letter Harry receives to go to Hogwarts..........only with a twist.
In the panto the wizard is called 'He Whose name No One Can Remember' sound familiar? yes another tribute to harry potter and voldemort, the wizards real name is ........... Susan! As you can see I used the real address of the hall which is actually on All Hallows rd, Bispham!
Wand,Potions, Parchment and Spells
I always like to add something to the cake board to finish it off, I thought of an ink well, scrolls, Pens, books, and finally chose potions and magic dust, I love going into the cake shop and buying fantastic named food colours, the gold is fine edible gold glitter dust! I got to have fun with many dusts on this cake, the wand had a few...... Isnt that spell just too funny....... Impetigo! ha,ha poor soul who got that horrid disease......
So now the panto is not long away the 20th Feb, I will post more about it when I get the posters etc, thank you for taking the time to read my posts and I thank you all for your lovely comments on the Wizard hat, I hope you enjoyed reading a bit more about the cake and our little drama group.....
Have a wonderful weekend,

You are so talented!
Hi Priscilla,
Your cake is stunning and the details are fab. I'm sure I would have found it difficult to cut up such a work of art but it's nice to have the photo's to look back on.

What a wonderful cake! You really are such a talented lady!It was a shame to cut into it!Thank you for sharing it with us!Love from Kathyann and the girls
Your cakes are amazing! And we're huge HP fans in this household, so that makes your wizard cake that much more wonderful. We have a television show on the Food Network and a recent episode was all about how the cakemakers made a huge reproduction of Hogwarts and the grounds (the forbidden forest and lake) for the latest movie premiere. I don't remember the name of the show but I'm sure you could Google "Food Network" and/or Hogwarts Cake and find images of it online.
What a fabulous cake. I've made some for my children, which I'm proud of, but they never look this polished!

I googled 'Harry potter cake' and this one of yours came up in the image results.
I am blown away by this cake! Completely and utterly. I had goosebumps looking at all the photos and your attention to detail is something else!
I wouldn't have allowed ANYONE to touch the thing! ;o) Just beautiful.
Hi Prescilla
I love your harry potter cake and want to make something similar, you mention on your site a template for the hat that you made, but I can't seem to find it, could you tell me where this is please?
Also, one last thing, what sort of cake did you bake?
Thank you very much for your help, and inspiration!!
Ella
Hi, Thank you for your lovely comments on the cake. I didnt use a templete for the hat as such... I used images from the movie as a guide, I dont know if you have seen the other part of the cake post here

I try to show a little 'how-too' on how I made the hat. Hope this helps. The cake was a sponge cake recipe. with jam and buttercream. Although i made the decorations in advance.
Have fun if you make the hat, let me know if you do! Id love to hear about it....
