Back from Luxor Egypt!!

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all well! I missed you all!! We had a wonderful two week away, in the first week the weather reached 38 c, which is hotter than Ive ever known it!!!

This is the front of our Hotel , luxor street have lights everywhere! Enlarge any images for a closer look, below is the view from our balcony to the Nile and the Valley of the Kings.....

Balloon rides....4.30 am the balloons take off, we were up early most mornings to beat he heat, the temp reached 30 C by 9.00am !! This is the hottest year we have known....

Here are a few more photos , we have been to the same hotel for 6 year and in that time made quite a few Egyptian friends, our horse and carriage driver is called Salah, he always invites us for a meal and to meet his family, hope you enjoy the photos! Below is a photo of Bartta, Mum, me and their son Shazlaey.

Dendera Temple Ceiling - We took a trip to the temple, the engravings were amazing, a lot of the blue paint still remains..... I love this photo my mum took!

Luxor street....... this is the scene around most of luxor, old buildings, people, donkeys and daily life, it is a relaxing place to visit and hasn't changed over time, we love it there, I hope you have enjoyed viewing a snapshot of our holiday, there is so much to show and tell I could make this post very long!!! ha,ha I may add some more photos in another post,

Its been a while.....Nice to be back!

Hi everyone, Goodness time has flown by and what a bad blogger I have been! I really didn't intend staying away this long! I hope you are all well......... This whole year has flown actually and now we are approaching my favourite time of year again, autumn. We didn't see much summer here in the uk, but I did manage to enjoy the garden......

I had some nice results from some seeds I planted a while back, forget-me-nots, Stocks and Indian pinks..... The others planted were blown all over the garden in a gale, so I lost most of them! There were not really enough salvaged to make a huge display, these are the ones that survived....This is at my parents house, where I potted them, they began to look nice among mums lillies and Egyptian figure! so I decided to keep there there.

Its hard to tell from the photo but these Lillies are Huge! We bought them from QVC uk and they were scented beautifully, as you stepped outside you were hit with the fragrance, thats my hand trying to compare size, ha,ha

Its good to be back, I will be visiting you all very soon! I've really missed blogging and visiting......

Gracious Hospital-i-Tea Blog-a-thon

I am taking part in the Tea-blog-a-thon over at Gracious Hospitality, every week has a new tea theme to post about, I am a bit late in posting for week ones topic but I wanted to start at the beginning!

Teacup-a-Story

King Echnaton Tea Cup - I bought this Tea cup in Luxor Egypt 2 year ago, I have been to Luxor 5 times and adore it, everytime I go I buy a cup or mug as I collect them. This is one of my favourites, outlined in gold with the face of King Echnaton, it makes a really elegent cup of tea....




When you arrive in Egypt you are greeted with a hot sweet Red Tea usually in a small glass, it is a very well know and loved tea called - Hibiscus or Karkade we loved it so much we bought a bag full! It comes as shown above, the dried petals of the Hibiscus flower, luxor souk has every spice you can think of including baskets of tea, you can also buy Tea Bags and I brought home both. In our hotel room in the evening we make ourselves a glass of tea whilst we sit on our balcony and watch Egyptian life go by, the tea is very good for a good nights sleep. We always buy our cups when we get there rather than taking the weight in the case and this was the cup I bought that year to enjoy my Egyptian red Tea.........

Below is a photo of my mum and dad drinking Hibiscus Tea with our good friend Salah (the left of the photo) on this day we had just returned from horse riding along the banks of the nile, such a beautiful day!

I hope you have been able to get a picture of our time in Luxor and how Tea is featured so strongly, we love our time there and this little tea cup is a part of the story.......
