Nail Art

Hello!
Wow I cant believe this year is going so fast! March, where is the time going? I hope you are all well. I am still here although not blogging as much I find blog browsing is so slow on my computer it takes ages for pages to load. But I am still visiting your lovely blogs even if I don't comment as much.

I am still making cakes, and working at the Primary School as a teaching assistant a few days a week. I have been trying a few more hobbies recently, one of those is nail art. Most of you know I like to make and create and its great to be able to wear art in this way! ha,ha

I thought I would share a few photos of my current nails, I painted the nails by hand using small nail art brushes, and the polish I love at the moment is by RIMMEL 60 Seconds. It seem to last the longest, so far 5 days and still going strong. I am using a top and bottom coat by Seche Vite.
I am really enjoying having a play with my own nails, I have never had long nails before so I am very happy to have grown them this long! I also bought some false nails, my friend loves wearing false nails so she can wear the designs on falsies if she chooses! ;)

Take care and see u all soon xxx Priscilla

Alice In Wonderland Nail Art

Alice In Wonderland Nail Art

Hello Eveyone,

Happy New Year! I am still here, and I have a new hobby. NAIL ART! I love all things creative and I have found a new way to express my arty side. I have never been that into nail polish but this new love has me trying different brands and my friends giving me ones they don't like or never used. I have been painting on my friends nails to practise and painting on my own nails of course.

I am browsing the shops and sales for Base Coats,Top Coats and other manicure items I had never heard of before! ha,ha. I also invested in some very fine nail art brushes from Ebay. I thought I would share some of the nails I am doing over the weeks and months.

Here is one I have just done on my own nail, the Cheshire cart from Alice in Wonderland, I am hoping to paint Alice on my thumb this evening. This is where I wish my nails were bigger! I have very small hands and therefore my nails are also small, I have bought some false nails to practise on.

Most of the polishes are from Rimmel given to me by my friend. I am loving the dry in 60 sec polish by Rimmel!  The painting is done using acrylic paints.

I hope you enjoy this post
See u soon xx

Blood Brothers.Grand Theatre Blackpool

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well, over the last few months I have been having  a great time with a new theatre group, back in Jan we were asked if we would like to put on a play at a large theatre in Blackpool called The Grand Theatre! We were extremely happy to be offered this opportunity, our plays are usually performed at a smaller local theatre. The grand is an old building and many famous people have played here. We preformed the play in June at both the grand theatre and our smaller theatre!

Everyone took lots of photos to capture this unique experience, we also had a professional photographer!  I thought I would share the photos with you, we had such an amazing time, no one wanted it to end. I have collected flyer's, brochures, photos and memorabilia to remember this unique event.

Blood Brothers The Play. June 2012. I played the rich mother called Mrs Lyons, mother to Eddie. The play version has a different ending to the musical with a twist at the end. Mrs Lyons goes mad and kills her own son by accident and then turns the gun on Mickey, I played Mrs Lyons!

We took lots of backstage photos.I love this one, it captures the atmosphere in the girls changing room.

The grand also had a make-up artist come make us look older or younger! Although I did my own hair and make up for most scenes I did have a few lines added to make me look a little crazy and my hair was made to look dishevelled towards the end .ha,ha

The seating in the Grand is HUGE. We played here 2 nights and a matinee. We had around 300 people in each performance.

Can you see where the queen sits when some comes to visit? In the royal boxes at the side of the stage.

Mrs Johnston and the Milk man! ha,ha 'Are ya dancin'?

Here I am been turned into 'Loopy Lyons' which I was affectionately named!

'I wouldn't let him play with the kids up at that end Mrs Lyons'

Marilyn Monroe (also playing Lynda) and Mickey.

'Whats that mummy'?
 'What'?
 'over there'?
'Oh, those houses? that's the beginning of a council estate'.

'No,no don't look mummy, never look at one magpie, its one for sorrow'.
'Oh Edward that's just a silly superstition'.
.

Me! And our bear friend that travelled around the theatre and beyond!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of the fun we had in this show. I have many more photos but this post would be far too long. I might share some of those at another time. The show was also filmed and we are looking forward to seeing that! Our next production is a radio play of 'Its a wonderful life' in November.

Bye for now Priscilla x

Antique Wedding Party Cake.

Hello Dear blogging friends.

I know it has been a while since I last blogged. Lots has been happening. I am still job hunting and cake making. I thought I would share my latest cake with you all.

A friend in the new drama company asked me to make a cake for her dad, as he was getting married. This cake is for the Strawberry Tea Party they had after to celebrate. The couple enjoy car boot sales, antiques, and Bingo! I love antiques too and I know a lot of you here in blogland enjoy thrifting, I hope you enjoy the photos.
The couple are from Blackpool and Scotland so I looked at some vintage postcards and painted the design in food colours. I just love old postcards!

Hope you enjoyed the photos! See you all again soon. Hope you are having some nice weather!

Miss October Cake

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all well. I am still job hunting but in the mean time I am working on my cake knowledge and skills. I am obsessed with those tv shows. Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, Cake Challenge. Cupcake wars!!!

I have always wanted to create something like they do on those shows, made from rice krispie treats and wood ha,ha. I found a recipe for rice krispie treats and decided to make a character. I was originally thinking of Alex the Lion from the Madagascar movies.

I changed my mind due to the size of the cakes and chose a Halloween design instead! As you know I LOVE Halloween! So any excuse to make a Halloween cake is fine by me.

I had so much fun making this cake! and felt like I was been challenged. The cake wasn't eaten,it was just a practise cake for me.

I thought you may like to see a the cake and a little word from me!
Hope you enjoy the video, see you all again soon

Job Hunting. Wish me Luck!

Image Detail

Hello everyone, I am back with a rather different kind of post for me. I am entering the world of job hunting. Its been a while since I last worked full time. I have been off work for what seems like forever!

I am happy to say I finished my Childcare course level 2 at the Primary School. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they can keep me in a paid position, I always hoped they would but it was never a promise. The school only has 62 pupils! So not the biggest need for staff.

This leaves me now looking for work. I am looking for a teaching assistant role, but I am open to other things too.

Do you ever look at your life and think I would at some point like to do that, that, this oooohhh and that?!
I do all the time, I would like to fit as much into my life experience as possible. So I have decided to apply for any jobs that take my fancy and hope for the best!

Here is where I am going to have a little play with my ideal type of jobs.... play along if you would like to! lol. Not that these are available but I can hope can't I ?
Image Detail1. Today I applied for a Window Dressing job. Yes just like the movie, well in my imagination its like the movie!
2. To work as a librarian, I volunteer in  a library at the moment and would love to work in one full time! This is the lovely lady from the Mummy movies.ha,ha

3. Perfect job number three.... oh how I would love to work in a Museum! I again worked voluntery in a maritme museum but something like this would be amazing wouldnt it?
4. An amazing theme park like this! Now I can not really work here as it is too far away. But imagine how much fun you could have?! Image Detail

Well thats my little voyage into my imagination! Wish me luck. Out of interest how did you all decide upon your chosen roles. Do you love it? Does another role call to you? I would love to hear about it

Bye for now Priscilla xx

Roger Rabbit Cake

Hello everyone.
I hope you are all well. I am happy to say the uk its getting a little brighter and the first sings of spring are here!

I know a lot of you are familiar with my cake making so I hope you don't mind another cake post! ha,ha

I had some spare time in the School Half Term holidays, and so I thought I would try my hand at something I havnt done before, a car cake.
This gave me the chance to try some new skills, like carving the cake and using the airbrush I have had for a while and not used!
I wanted a slight twist on the basic car cake. I had seen a water globe on the web with this car in it. I love the Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie and thought 'why not'?

I thought about adding the other two characters but I didn't want to add too much!

This wasn't a cake order so I could just take my time and enjoy it. Here is the cake getting air-brushed with food colour. I had a bit of practise first on  an art pad!
Here is the airbrush and my home made holder ha,ha ;)

Hope you enjoyed the photos! I loved making this cake and now want to make more shaped cakes! What would you like to see in a cake if you could choose?

See u again soon

2012 Goals. And a little art

Hello everyone,
I hope your new year is going well and Friday the 13th has  been good to you?

What have you started this year that is new? any new year resolutions or goals?

* One of my plans is to finish my year 2 Teaching assistant course.

*Start and finish the level 3 course.

* Take a Maths and English top up course, or redomy Maths and English GCSEs.

* Learn to Knit

Just a few of the things I have been thinking about.

I am loving working at the Primary school, over Christmas was just so lovely! I am enjoying my time there. I think when my course has finished I will stay on voluntary when I can. Over Christmas they put my artistic skills to good use in the class room and asked me to draw Santa in his sleigh with reindeer to go above the play area. The play area for Christmas was of course Santa's Grotto!

It was quite a large wall, I had a great time drawing and painting them. I love doing anything like this and it was so nice to be able to be useful to the school in this way. Here is the final piece up on the wall...

Close up of the sleigh, I drew these freehand.
It would be fantastic if I could get a permanent position in this school, there are only 67 pupils in the whole school and the staff are great!
Lets hope the new year brings that possibility!

I have just received this book from the library, I thought it sounded interesting on Amazon. It looks quite wordy but it should be a good read.

Reading,Crafting and some sad news

Hello everyone.
Wishing you a Happy New Year!

I have some sad news to share. My Grandma passed away over Christmas. It was quite sudden and she will be sadly missed,we are remembering her and her life and the happiness she brought us. xxx

I  am looking towards 2012. As probably everyone is,thinking about what I would like in my life and how I can make changes and looking at the things I am most thankful for.

I have been writing a to do list, do you do that? Things you want to experience or create in your world? and a little about how to go about it?  I love looking back over the lists I have made over the years, seeing what I have ticked off! and looking at how they came into my world! Its quite fun and I love doing it every year.
photos found on Pinterest.

One goal I have is to create a journal. I do have a small diary that I write in but I love the look of scrapbooking and I do enjoy been creative! but not scrapbooking just to hold photos,as I am not really into that. It would be more of a life journal or things that are happening that mean a lot.

I have gathered some inspiration for how I want the journal to look.

So I have been cutting up the Christmas cards! taking little phrases that can be used again, snowflakes and card toppers etc. I can't wait to put them to good use!

Another thing I am really interested in at the moment is The Law Of Attraction you have prob heard of The Secret?

I have found this wonderful channel on you tube that is very similar to it. A lady called Esther Hicks. They take the law of attraction principle a lot futher and I have watched some amazing videos by them.Well worth a look if you are interested in that sort of subject!http://www.youtube.com/user/AbrahamHicks/featured

The Crucible Play

Hi Everyone,
Well it is all over and what a fantastic time we all had!!! I am sad to see it end but we have some great photos from the show. We staged the play on the floor so we could be near to the audience. It simple set but most affective I think. Hope you enjoy the photos, I am Elizabeth Proctor in the brown dress, John proctor is in the cream shirt, Rev hale,Abigail and Mary Warren. If you do not know the story to the Crucible I recommend you read it or watch the movie.Such a powerful story based on real events on the Salem Witch trials of 1692.
Here I am as Elizabeth Proctor.I loved the costume!!
John Proctor,Elizabeth and Rev Hale. Hale had come to question the proctors about Witchcraft in their house. Elizabeth is accused.
John and Elizabeth arguing before Hale arrives at the door.
Elizabeth hands the poppet over to the court. The poppet is the reason Elizabeth is taken to the jail. Although it belongs Mary Warren....
Rev Hale telling us I am accused of Witchcraft. He asks us lots of questions about our beliefs.
Elizabeth telling John Abigail wants her dead so she can replace Elizabeth in their marriage!
Act 1. The afflicted girls, Betty and Rebbecca Nurse comforting the screaming child.
Rev Hale tells Tituba to confess to witchcraft and go back to god. Abigail is in the yellow dress, she had an affair with my husband!

John rips up the warrant for Elizabeth's arrest!!
In the rehearsal room. There were 20 members of cast in this play, not everyone was there for this photo. We had a fantastic time and I cant wait to do another with this group!!! Hope you enjoyed the photos. These are taken from Act 1 and 2. If I can get hold of act 3 and 4 I will post those too....

See you all again soon Priscilla xx
